In a major decision taken by the government of Pakistan in view of security concerns and administrative reasons, it has been announced that all inter-district transport hubs in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will be closed from 11 pm tonight until April 26.
According to sources, under this decision, public transport from Rawalpindi and Islamabad to other districts will remain completely suspended, while traffic coming from other cities to the twin cities will also be banned. During this time, inter-district bus services, wagon hubs and coach terminals will remain closed.
The administration says that the aim of this move is to maintain law and order and deal with possible security concerns. Law enforcement agencies have been put on high alert, while the checking process at the entry and exit points of the city will be further tightened.
However, for the convenience of the citizens, intra-city public transport within Rawalpindi and Islamabad will remain normal, including metro bus service and local wagon services.
The administration has appealed to the citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and follow the government instructions. Passengers have been directed to postpone their travel plans and seek advance information from the relevant transport hubs to avoid any kind of inconvenience.
Furthermore, the authorities have clarified that the situation is being continuously reviewed and decisions may be changed according to the circumstances.
