In the Darigoon area of Chagai district of Balochistan, gunmen attacked the mining site of a local mineral exploration company, where drilling operations were underway.
According to initial reports, at least 10 people were killed in the attack, including a foreign national and two local security guards.
The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to Prince Fahd Hospital in Dalbandin.
The private company National Resources (Pvt) Limited (NRL) confirmed the incident on its LinkedIn account, but did not provide further details.
According to local journalists, the attackers also set fire to machinery at the site.
Darigoon is a remote mountainous area located about 100 kilometers northwest of Dalbandin, the headquarters of Chagai district, where mining projects are underway.
The incident has further heightened security concerns in the area.
Baloch independence-minded armed organizations have previously warned the elements involved in the looting of Balochistan’s mineral resources that Balochistan’s mineral resources are the trust of the Baloch nation and their looting will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
