A tragic incident of murder during a robbery in the Koral police station area of Pakistan’s capital Islamabad has raised serious questions about the security arrangements in the city. A youth lost his life in this incident that took place last night, after which there is severe concern and anger in public circles.
According to the details, unknown armed robbers snatched a motorcycle and cash from a citizen at gunpoint. On resistance or allegedly fearing identification, the robbers shot the citizen, as a result of which he died on the spot.
The accused managed to escape easily after the incident.
The deceased youth has been identified as Bilal son of Farooq, who is said to belong to Muzaffarabad district of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The body has been shifted to the hospital and handed over to the heirs after necessary formalities. The heirs will leave for Muzaffarabad to bury the body. While according to the police, an investigation into the incident has been launched.
Initial news about the same incident had surfaced last night, however, after the latest details, this tragic incident has further increased fear and panic among the citizens.
Public and social circles say that such incidents in a sensitive and important city like Islamabad are a question mark over the poor security arrangements and the performance of the police.
Citizens have demanded from the higher authorities that the accused involved in the incident be immediately arrested and given the death penalty and effective steps be taken to improve the law and order situation in the capital so that such tragedies can be avoided in the future.
