In Pakistan‑administered Jammu and Kashmir, nationalist and pro‑independence groups organized various events and rallies to mark the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Maqbool Bhat.

Participants paid tribute to Maqbool Bhat and raised slogans in support of the freedom and sovereignty of Jammu and Kashmir.

In district Poonch, a rally was taken out from the District Poonch College Ground under the banner of the pro‑independence alliance, which marched through different parts of the city.

Participants carried red flags and paid homage to Maqbool Bhat’s struggle.

Similarly, in the capital Muzaffarabad, the pro‑independence alliance organized a rally from Azadi Chowk to Upper Adda Lal Chowk.

Addressing the gathering, speakers said that Maqbool Bhat’s struggle symbolizes the Kashmiri people’s right to self‑determination, and that carrying forward his ideology is the need of the hour.

During the jointly organized programs of the pro‑independence alliance, discussions were also held on future strategy and a roadmap for freeing Jammu and Kashmir from Indian and Pakistani control and establishing an independent state.

It is worth mentioning that the pro‑independence alliance has been organizing joint events on Maqbool Bhat’s martyrdom anniversary for the past two years, while the month of February is observed as “Maah‑e‑Maqbool” (Month of Maqbool) in Pakistan‑administered Kashmir, during which various events and activities are held.

It should also be noted that Maqbool Bhat was neither a supporter of Pakistan‑administered Kashmir nor Indian‑administered Kashmir. His vision was a fully independent, sovereign, and united Kashmir.
