The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered PTI founder Imran Khan to be given access to personal doctors and telephone facilities to contact his children.
A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan held a hearing during which a report was presented in the court.
According to the report, Imran Khan has described the medical facilities as unsatisfactory and has sought access to eye specialists.
During the hearing, Attorney General Anwar Mansoor told the court that we are ready to provide access to eye specialists. On this, the Chief Justice said that the government is in a good mood, Imran Khan should also be given the facility of telephone contact with his children, he is currently in state custody, all prisoners including him should be given equal medical facilities, it will not be said that Imran Khan should be given more facilities than other prisoners, everyone should be treated equally.
The Chief Justice said that the reports of the Friend of the Court and the Jail Superintendent are the same.
The court directed to examine Imran Khan’s eyes and said that a team of doctors will be formed for the examination, both steps will be taken before February 16, the health issue is the most important, intervention is needed on the health issue, we want to know the government’s position on the health issue.
On this, the Attorney General said that it is the responsibility of the state to provide health facilities, if the prisoners are not satisfied, the state will take steps.
The Chief Justice said that the issue of telephone calls from children is also important, we are trusting the government, we are reserving the order for hearing in the original case.
Later, the court also ordered Imran Khan to facilitate telephone contacts with his children Qasim and Suleman.
