The Pakistan Socialist Forum has strongly condemned the arrest of Comrade Tahir Mujtaba under the Anti-Terrorism Act and his handing over to the police on a ten-day physical remand.
A statement issued by the Pakistan Socialist Forum said that Comrade Tahir Mujtaba is a writer and active political activist and is not involved in any kind of aggression or terrorism. Action against him under the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act is condemnable.
The statement demanded that the alleged false cases filed against Comrade Tahir Mujtaba be immediately dropped and he be released without delay.
The Pakistan Socialist Forum said that such measures against political activists are tantamount to restricting freedom of expression and political activities. “We do not accept these rules of oppression” and the alleged acts of retaliation against activists will be strongly resisted.
The forum demanded that justice be provided to Tahir Mujtaba and that the cases against him be reviewed transparently.
