VBMP Demands Transparent Investigation into Extrajudicial Killings of Enforced Disappearance Victims Hassan Rafiq, Ehsan Hassan, and Nadel Baloch in Balochistan

The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP)—an organization actively campaigning for the recovery of enforced disappearance victims in Balochistan—stated that it has received reports from the families of Hassan Rafiq, Ehsan Hassan, and Nadel Baloch. The bodies of these three men, who had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance, were recovered from the Dunk area of Kuldan, Gwadar. The families allege that the three youths were extrajudicially killed while in custody. Expressing deep concern over the incident, the VBMP has demanded a transparent, impartial, and independent investigation.

According to the families, Hassan Rafiq had been released on bail from Turbat Jail on August 24, 2026; however, immediately upon his release, security forces detained him outside the prison and allegedly subjected him to enforced disappearance, after which no information regarding his whereabouts was provided.

Ehsan Hassan was allegedly subjected to enforced disappearance after being detained by security forces—along with his brother, Balach Hassan—during a raid on their ancestral home in Tal Sar, Jiwani (Gwadar), on January 22, 2026.

Similarly, Nadel Baloch—a resident of Panwan, Gwadar—was allegedly subjected to enforced disappearance after security forces detained him during a raid on his home at approximately 1:30 AM on April 19, 2026. According to the VBMP, if these individuals were accused of a crime, they should have been produced before a court in accordance with the law of the land and subjected to transparent legal proceedings. The law grants no individual or institution the authority to kill a person in custody through extra-legal means or to dump their body in a desolate area. Allegations of enforced disappearance, illegal detention, and death in custody are extremely serious in nature, and a thorough investigation into them is essential.

While strongly condemning this incident, the VBMP demands that the judiciary take immediate notice of the matter and initiate an independent, impartial, transparent, and credible investigation. During the investigation, all relevant records, detention-related documents, forensic evidence, and other available proofs must be preserved; those responsible must be held accountable under the law and brought to justice through fair judicial proceedings.

The VBMP further demands that the findings of the investigation be made public and shared with the affected families, that the next of kin be provided with complete information regarding the incident, and that they receive justice and legal redress. State institutions must ensure adherence to the Constitution, the law, and fundamental human rights to prevent future incidents of enforced disappearances, illegal detention, and any potential unconstitutional or extrajudicial actions.

The VBMP maintains that regardless of the accusations against an individual, producing them before a court in accordance with the law and adjudicating the matter through a transparent judicial process is the only constitutional and legal course of action.
