The ongoing conflict in Yemen has intensified once again. The Ansar Allah (Houthi) group has launched multiple missile attacks on Saudi Arabia and southern Yemen, while ground clashes have also escalated across various fronts. According to the Saudi-led coalition, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the Houthis north of Riyadh before it could reach its target.
Separately, the media office of the Aden Security Authority stated that two missiles fired by the Houthis were aimed at Aden International Airport. Officials reported no casualties resulting from the attack.
These attacks coincide with large-scale military operations taking place on various fronts in Yemen. In recent weeks, Saudi-backed government forces have been attempting to regain control over Houthi-held territories, particularly along the western coastal strip and the area surrounding the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
According to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, at least three people were injured in attacks targeting airports in Jazan and Najran, near the Yemeni border.
Although Saudi officials did not officially confirm that Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport was targeted, the air traffic monitoring website FlightRadar24 reported repeated temporary closures of the airport’s airspace during this period.
Meanwhile, the conflict has further intensified following the emergence of a video showing fighting near the Bab al-Mandab Strait. According to the news agency Reuters, the video has been verified. It shows armored vehicles advancing toward a group of individuals, some of whom appear armed while others seem unarmed; some are seen with their hands raised, sitting, or lying on the ground.
The Houthis have strongly criticized government forces, labeling the incident a war crime. They state that the video exposes the “true nature” of their adversaries.
However, a spokesperson for the Giants Brigades—active on the Bab al-Mandab front—stated that the incident is under investigation. According to him, forces had received information that Houthi fighters were surrendering, but some individuals subsequently opened fire on government personnel.
The Saudi-led coalition did not immediately comment on the video or the allegations. Meanwhile, the Homeland Shield Forces have issued instructions to their personnel to treat prisoners in accordance with humanitarian, ethical, and legal standards.
Fighting continues around the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the world’s most critical maritime passages.
Government forces claim to have recaptured several areas previously held by the Houthis over the past month. On Monday night, announcing successes on multiple fronts, the forces stated that the Houthis had been driven back from various areas in Taiz province, while advances had also been made in the southern parts of Marib province.
