An alleged attempt to kidnap a young girl from Nagar was foiled by the locals by taking timely action. As soon as the incident was reported, there was intense anger in the area and citizens gathered in large numbers.
According to eyewitnesses, unknown persons were trying to forcibly take the girl away when nearby people intervened after hearing the noise, after which the accused managed to escape. The people say that if immediate action had not been taken, a major tragedy could have occurred.
Condemning the incident, former president of Nagar Youth Federation Raja Junaid Kahani has expressed deep concern, terming it an attack on the honor and dignity of Nagar. In its statement, the Nagar Youth Organization has strongly condemned the incident and demanded that the involved elements be immediately arrested and punished as per the law.
The leaders of the organization have warned that if there is any delay or negligence in the arrest of the accused and a transparent investigation, the people of Nagar will protest vigorously and constitutionally.
The citizens have demanded that the police and the district administration take effective steps to ensure the safety of women and adopt a strict strategy to prevent such incidents.
The police have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, however, according to sources, an investigation has been initiated.
