Demands:
Today, on March 02, 2026, a joint meeting of the Central Imamia Association of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Committee of Imams of Friday and Jamaat of Gilgit was held in connection with the great tragedy of the martyrdom of the Leader of the World Muslims, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. After the meeting, the following points were unanimously decided:
- Whatever orders are issued by the mujtahids, leaders and marajis at the international and national levels, they will be accepted and fully implemented.
- A period of mourning is declared for forty (40) days, while mourning gatherings will be held in the Central Jamia Mosque of Gilgit and Imambargahs of all neighborhoods for seven (7) consecutive days.
- A judicial inquiry commission should be established for a transparent and impartial investigation into the recent incidents in Gilgit-Baltistan so that the facts can be brought before the nation.
- Arrangements should be made for the full treatment of the injured at the official level for all the people who have been martyred and injured in the recent incidents throughout Pakistan, and the families of the martyrs and the injured should be provided with appropriate financial assistance and employment by the government.
- A ban should be imposed on the entry of any American and Israeli citizen or NGO into Gilgit-Baltistan in the future, and the existing American and Israeli NGOs and individuals should be expelled immediately.
- Immediate action should be taken against the individuals and officials who directly opened fire on the innocent, unarmed fasting people and injured them, and an FIR should be registered.
- The administration and security forces should refrain from imposing curfew or Section 144 in Gilgit-Baltistan using the recent incidents as justification, as this is likely to further escalate the situation.
- After 36 martyrdoms of the Jafariya sect across the country and more than 200 injuries, the registration of FIRs against believers under the Anti-Terrorism Act is viewed with concern. It is termed as a conspiracy to deliberately portray the Jafariya sect of Pakistan as miscreants, and it is demanded that all FIRs registered under the recent incidents in the whole of Pakistan, especially in Gilgit-Baltistan, be withdrawn.
- Arresting any person can further escalate the situation, so unnecessary arrests should be avoided.
- The Central Imamia Association and the families of all martyrs reserve the right to postpone the burial of any martyr until the above demands are met.
