Lady health workers in Pakistan-administered Kashmir have been protesting for a month in favor of their demands and on Friday they blocked the main highway to make the protest more effective.
Lady health workers staged a sit-in on the road from the Press Club to the Secretariat, suspending traffic, causing severe hardship to citizens and creating a traffic jam in the area.
The protesters say that they have been serving in the health sector in Pakistan-administered Kashmir for the past 32 years, but despite a long period, they have not been provided with basic facilities like service structure, pension and service upgradation.
According to the lady health workers, pension is the main support for any government employee in old age, but they are being deprived of this right. They demanded that the government immediately announce the approval of their service structure, payment of pension and service upgradation.
The protesters warned that if their demands were not met, the scope of the protest would be further expanded.
