In an exclusive interview with Tolo News, Afghanistan’s Taliban government’s Defense Minister Mullah Yaqub Mujahid, referring to Pakistan’s recent threats and attacks, said that Afghan forces are fully prepared to defend their territory and will give a befitting reply to any aggression.
Mullah Yaqub indicated that if Kabul is attacked by Pakistan, they will retaliate against Islamabad.
He added that Afghanistan does not want war with anyone, but if it is imposed on them, they are mentally and militarily ready for a war of up to ten years.
He strongly rejected Pakistan’s demand to declare Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan a terrorist group. He termed Pakistan’s claims as imaginary and unrealistic, saying that suppressing opponents in the name of terrorism is Pakistan’s own internal matter.
Mujahid, in his remarks, acknowledged that a major root of the conflict between the two countries is the dispute over the imaginary Durand Line. He said that in retaliation for the death of an Afghan civilian, his forces have inflicted heavy losses on the Pakistani side to make them regret their actions.
