A young man from Balochistan’s Gwadar district, bordering Iran, has been killed after a drone wreckage fell in Iranian waters.
Officials in Makran Division confirmed the incident and said that the deceased citizen’s boat was hit by drone debris.
A police officer in Gwadar district told the BBC that the man who was killed has been identified as Tayyab Baloch.
According to the police officer, the incident took place on Saturday evening.
A senior Gwadar police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Tayyab Baloch belonged to the Gunz area in Jiwani tehsil of Gwadar district.
He said that he was young and a sailor on a boat.
The police officer said that Tayyab was involved in fishing and Iranian oil business, for which he had to go to Iranian borders.
They said that on Saturday evening, Tayyab Baloch’s boat was in Iranian territory where he was hit by drone debris.
Administratively, Gwadar is part of Balochistan’s Makran division.
When contacted, a senior government official from Makran division confirmed that Tayyab Baloch was killed in a drone strike on condition of anonymity, but did not provide further information.
He said that initially we had received information that Iranian forces had shot down a drone in Iranian territory, part of the debris of which fell on the man’s boat, killing him.
A police official in Gwadar said that Tayyab Baloch’s body was not taken to the hospital for a post-mortem.
He said that his relatives brought the body and buried it in his native area in Gunz.
There are also reports that one person was injured in the incident, but the police official did not confirm this.
Local journalist Javed Shay from Jiwani said that after the incident, the other person in the boat took Tayyab Baloch’s body to Gunas.
Jiwani is a tehsil of Gwadar district bordering Iran and has a population of fishermen.
Jiwani is located approximately 25 to 30 kilometers from the Iranian border.
