In Gilgit-Baltistan, administered by Pakistan, the Food Department of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan has issued a formal notification to fix registration and annual renewal fees for all establishments and shops doing food-related business. This step has been taken under sections 12, 13 and 30 of the GB Food Act 2022 and will be implemented immediately.
According to the notification, the registration fee for canteens established in educational institutions, hospitals and government and private offices has been fixed at Rs 10,000 while the annual renewal fee has been fixed at Rs 2,000. For three-star or larger hotels, the registration fee will be Rs 100,000 and the annual renewal fee will be Rs 20,000, while for large hotels, restaurants and cafes with more than 50 seats, the registration fee has been fixed at Rs 50,000 and the annual renewal fee has been fixed at Rs 10,000.
Similarly, for hotels, cafes and fast food centers with less than 50 seats, the registration fee has been fixed at Rs 25,000 and an annual renewal fee of Rs 5,000. For wedding halls and conference venues, the registration fee will be Rs 50,000 and an annual renewal fee of Rs 10,000.
According to the notification, the registration fee for super stores is Rs 50,000 and an annual renewal fee of Rs 10,000, for retail marts Rs 25,000 registration and Rs 5,000 renewal, while for general stores Rs 10,000 registration and Rs 2,000 annual renewal fee have been fixed.
Similarly, the registration fee for chicken, mutton and beef shops, dairy shops and slaughterhouses has been fixed at Rs 15,000 and an annual renewal fee of Rs 5,000. For fruit and vegetable shops, the registration fee will be Rs 10,000 and an annual renewal fee of Rs 3,000, while the same fee has been fixed for bakery and sweet shops.
According to the notification, the registration fee for roadside dhabas and juice corners will be Rs 5,000 and annual renewal fee of Rs 2,000, while the registration fee for water plants and RO units has been fixed at Rs 30,000 and annual renewal fee of Rs 10,000.
The Food Department has directed all Deputy Food Controllers to issue notices to those doing food-related business in their districts and instruct them to complete their registration through the district offices within three days. The notification has been issued on the orders of the Secretary Food Gilgit-Baltistan.
