Benazir Income Support Program beneficiaries protested against alleged misbehavior by office staff and police.
The women took out a protest rally from Guri Pan Chowk and blocked the main highway for traffic.
The protesters said that the office staff and police misbehave with women who come to collect assistance, causing them severe hardship and humiliation.
Due to the protest, traffic on the highway was suspended and long queues of vehicles formed. Later, the administration held talks with the protesters and assured them of treating women with respect and better arrangements in the future.
After assurances from the administration, the protesters ended their protest and opened the highway to traffic.
