A high-profile suspect who allegedly defrauded millions of rupees under the guise of a government position in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, has finally been arrested.
The Secretariat Police Station arrested the suspect Saulat Ali, who was involved in a financial fraud of about Rs 30 million.
According to police sources, the suspect Saulat Ali has served as a section officer in the Ministry of Interior in the past, while in the recent past he was allegedly working as a Director to Minister (PS) in the Ministry of Information Technology. He is accused of extorting huge amounts of money from citizens by deceiving them with government influence.
According to the details, the victim citizen Muhammad Javed had been going around various institutions for the last three years to seek justice. It is alleged that the suspect used his influence to obtain Rs 30 million from the citizen and later kept making various excuses and false promises for a long time.
Later, a case was registered in Kohsar police station in 2022 for dishonoring the check given by the accused, but the accused was avoiding arrest by taking advantage of his alleged official position.
According to sources, the accused Saulat Ali was a declared person not only in one case but also in three more cases registered in Kohsar police station and Aabpara police station. The court issued orders and arrest warrants for the immediate arrest of the accused to the SSP Islamabad, after which the police took action and arrested the accused.
Senior police officials say that no one is above the law, no matter how influential he may be. Further investigation is underway with the accused and efforts are being made to make it possible to return the money of the affected citizen.
