Around 3,500 lady health workers in Pakistan-administered Kashmir have been protesting for the past one month to achieve their basic rights.
The lady health workers had started their protest on February 6, while on March 6, they tried to convey their demands to the authorities by staging a sit-in in front of the Central Press Club on the main highway leading to the Secretariat. However, no progress has been made on their demands so far.
These working women continued to protest on the occasion of International Women’s Day. On Monday, March 17, once again, the lady health workers staged a symbolic sit-in on the highway leading from the Central Press Club to the Secretariat and raised slogans in favor of their demands.
The women participating in the protest said that if the government does not accept their demands, they will continue the protest with their children on Eid as well.
According to the lady health workers, they have been facing various problems for decades, including regular payment of pension, approval of service structure, service upgradation, job security and permanent status.
They say that due to the lack of these basic rights, their professional services are also being affected.
On the other hand, the government, which claims to be a people’s government, has turned a blind eye and is not showing any seriousness on this issue.
