According to the Washington Post, a senior administration official said that the Pentagon has asked the White House for approval of more than $200 billion to cover the costs of the war in Iran.
According to the newspaper, this amount would be much more than the Trump administration’s campaign spending so far and is intended to “immediately” increase the production of key weapons used.
Over the past two weeks, several different funding proposals have been presented by the Pentagon, and according to the Washington Post, the latest proposal could spark a major political debate in Congress.
At the time of the report, both the US Department of Defense and the White House have so far declined to comment on the matter.
