Attack on Iran’s nuclear plant, Israel’s confirmation, IAEA calls for restraint

The Public Relations Office of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has said in a statement that the Bushehr nuclear power plant site was attacked again today. On the other hand, Israel has confirmed fresh attacks on Iran, while the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has demanded restraint.

In its statement on the latest attack on the Bo Shahr nuclear plant, Iran said the attack was part of an “ongoing series” of US and Israeli attacks. It said that the incident caused “no financial or technical loss, and no loss of life is expected”, and that “no part of the facility was damaged”.

According to AEOI, the same nuclear power plant was also targeted on March 17, but there was no loss of life or property in that incident either.

The body condemned the attacks as a dangerous attack on “peaceful nuclear facilities” and warned that such actions could have “dangerous and irreversible consequences” for the security and safety of the region, “especially for countries located along the Gulf”.

Iran’s only active nuclear power plant is located in the southern city of Bushehr and was completed with the help of Russia.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says Iran has informed the agency that another missile has “targeted” the premises of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant.

According to the agency, “According to Iran, there was no damage to the power plant and the staff members were also safe in this attack.” According to the Iranian administration, the power plant is also working normally.

The head of the IAEA, Raphael Grossi, has reiterated his call to ensure the safety of nuclear installations during the conflict and to exercise “extreme restraint” throughout the situation.

Last week, Iran’s only active nuclear power plant in the southern city of Bushehr was targeted, but no casualties were reported.

The Israeli Defense Forces say they have launched new strikes in Tehran, targeting “Iranian terrorist regime” infrastructure across the capital.

The BBC has just heard from sources inside the city who are reporting explosions in the east, north and center of Tehran.

In the latest images received from Tehran, black clouds of smoke can be seen rising from the city center.
