The Chief Imam of the All India Imams Organisation, Maulana Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, has said that Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK) will soon be reunited with India, as the people there themselves desire it.
Talking to reporters in Srinagar on Friday, Ilyasi said that PoK is an integral part of India and the people there want a referendum so that they can rejoin India.
According to Ilyasi, the people of Pakistan-administered Kashmir are impressed by the development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and they want similar development.
“By the grace of God, they will return home soon. The people there themselves want them to be reunited with India. Today, Kashmir is developing, that is why PoK will also become a part of India very soon,” he said.
The Chief Imam expressed happiness over the changes taking place in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370, saying that today’s Kashmir has become the “new Kashmir”.
He said, “There is prosperity here, tourism is increasing, people are satisfied. Earlier, the youth here used to pick up stones, today they have pens in their hands and are getting education.”
Referring to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam last year, Ilyasi said that there was a temporary decline in tourism after that incident, but now the situation has completely returned to normal.
He said, “I invite everyone to come to Kashmir, there is no atmosphere of fear here anymore.”
Speaking about the situation in the Middle East, Ilyasi said that war is not beneficial for anyone and expressed hope that peace will be established soon.
He said, “Wars bring destruction. I hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mediate and this war will end soon.”
