A police outpost was completely destroyed in an attack by militants in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan, killing 15 personnel.
Medical and Teaching Institute Bannu spokesperson Noman Khan confirmed that the death toll in the attack on Fateh Khel outpost has risen to 15.
According to him, all the deceased were police personnel.
In addition, three injured people were also taken to the hospital, whose condition is said to be out of danger.
Earlier, a statement issued by the office of Bannu Range Police Officer Sajjad Khan said that the bodies of 12 police personnel have been recovered from the rubble of the Fateh Khel outpost building, while three personnel have been pulled out alive from the rubble.
According to reports, the militants attacked with a car laden with explosives, which caused a large part of the outpost building to collapse.
According to initial information, the banned organization Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the attack, but police officials have not yet confirmed it.
A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the attackers were trying to enter the checkpoint and the firing continued for a long time.
