The Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) has sent a formal and urgent letter to Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman and Member National Assembly Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the dire situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
In the letter, the Action Committee has warned that if their legitimate demands and previous written agreements are not implemented, a decisive long march towards Muzaffarabad will be launched after July 15.
The letter, sent by the core committee members of the Action Committee, states that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir have been peacefully struggling for their fundamental rights for the last three years.
According to the letter, a written agreement was signed between the Action Committee (JKJAAC) with the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Azad Kashmir on October 4, 2025, which has not been implemented yet.
The letter said that since June 5, the Pakistani forces have carried out the worst violence and actions against the unarmed and peaceful people of Kashmir, as a result of which several youth have been martyred and thousands of youth have been imprisoned.
The letter informed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari about the seriousness of the situation and said that for the last 34 days, the people have been peacefully sitting in 6 protest sit-ins in the vicinity of Rawalakot. Now, after a long wait of 34 days, a call for a long march towards Muzaffarabad will be given on July 15, 2026.
In its letter, the committee thanked Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Pervez Ashraf for raising their voice in favor of the Kashmiri people in the National Assembly, however, they expressed deep sorrow over the cold-bloodedness of the Pakistani government.
Directly addressing Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the letter said that since the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government is currently in power in Azad Kashmir, Bilawal Bhutto’s responsibility increases to take immediate practical steps.
The ongoing aggression by the forces should be stopped immediately. The loss of life and property caused since June 5 should be redressed and the written agreement on fundamental rights of October 2025 should be implemented immediately. The process of declaring the peaceful Kashmiri people as “terrorists” should be stopped immediately.
The Action Committee clarified its position and made it clear that they are not against the stability, integrity and institutions of Pakistan. At the end of the letter, it is written that we cherish the integrity and stability of Pakistan. We are peacefully struggling for our fundamental rights. Our fight is with the exploitative ruling classes sitting in Muzaffarabad, we are not against Pakistan at all.
At the end of the letter, in view of the dire situation in Kashmir, the PPP Chairman has been appealed to take practical and serious steps on an urgent basis.
At the end of the letter, there are signatures of the central leaders of the committee, including Sardar Umar Nazir Kashmiri, Imtiaz Aslam, Khawaja Mehran Arshad Advocate, Sardar Arbab Advocate, Saad Ansari Advocate and Raja Ghulam Mujtaba.
