Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held protests in Lahore and Karachi today, during which the police resorted to lathicharge and detained several workers.
PTI workers protested around the Press Club in Karachi, where tension was seen between the police and the protesters.
The police lathicharged the protesters to disperse them and detained several workers.
After the lathicharge, the protesters were dispersed, while several people were arrested and shifted to different places.
On the other hand, during the PTI protest outside the Aiwan-e-Adal in Lahore, the police cracked down on workers and party leaders. Several workers were detained during the action, while Punjab Assembly Member Owais Virk was also arrested.
According to eyewitnesses, a tense situation arose between the police and the protesters outside the Aiwan-e-Adal, after which the law enforcement agencies took action to disperse the protest participants.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders have condemned the police actions in Lahore and Karachi, calling them a crackdown on the right to peaceful protest and political revenge. However, the police have not yet issued an official statement on these allegations.
