There is a huge increase in cases of extra-constitutional and illegal enforced disappearances in Balochistan and Karachi. According to the latest reports, 11 members of the staff of Balochistan National Party chief and former Chief Minister of Balochistan Sardar Akhtar Mengal have been detained and disappeared from his Karachi residence, while 11 other youths have been forcibly disappeared from different areas of Balochistan and Karachi. Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief and former Chief Minister of Balochistan Sardar Akhtar Mengal has revealed that intelligence agencies raided an apartment rented for staff near his residence in Karachi last night, where all 13 people present were tortured and their mobile phones were confiscated.
He said that 11 of the 13 people, including his manager Haji Rajab and security guard Ahmed, have not yet been released and are missing, while only 2 people were released later.
Terming it as racial profiling and a gross violation of human rights, Akhtar Mengal has demanded the immediate safe return of his missing staff from the Sindh government and the PPP.
In addition to Akhtar Mengal’s residence, detailed information about the detention and disappearance of 11 more youths from Karachi and Balochistan has been released by the Baloch Solidarity Committee (BYC).

Public and political circles and human rights organizations have reacted strongly to these worrying incidents, saying that the main targets of enforced disappearances are students and young people, which is causing a humanitarian crisis in the entire region.
According to the organizations, most of the armed individuals claimed to have been killed in alleged military operations and fake encounters by security forces are the same enforced disappearances who are killed in custody, while the international community remains a complete silent spectator to this entire situation.
