Israeli attacks in Gaza are increasing the need for humanitarian assistance, UN

The United Nations has warned that the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza are endangering the lives of Palestinians and they are in greater need of humanitarian assistance.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in its latest report that ‘Israeli gunfire, shelling and naval attacks have killed many civilians since Friday.’

The UN stressed that ‘under international humanitarian law, the protection of civilians and civilian objects must be ensured at all times.’

The agency said that ‘since the beginning of the war in Gaza, its experts have identified more than 1,000 munitions and other war materials that could prove dangerous.’

The report also emphasized ensuring the access of essential supplies and specialized equipment to Gaza so that vital humanitarian services can be further expanded there.
