The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed to have arrested 3 alleged militants belonging to the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) in a joint operation with a federal intelligence agency.
The arrested persons are accused of killing the owner of a stall selling goods set up on the occasion of 14th August in Defence Phase 2.
According to officials, the arrest was made during a joint operation of the CTD and the federal intelligence agency near Korangi Causeway on August 18.
The detained persons have been identified as Zafar Ali, Faraz and Sajjad Ahmed.
Police and CTD officials say that 3 hand grenades and a pistol have been recovered from the possession of the suspects.
On August 12, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a stall selling goods in DHA Phase 2, which was set up to commemorate August 14.
The stall owner, Aman, was seriously injured in the firing incident and later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have claimed that Arsalan Shah, a member of the SRA living abroad, had provided instructions and funding for the attack.
The CTD said that further custodial interrogation of the arrested suspects is underway to ascertain their alleged involvement in other violent incidents and their links to a wider network.
However, these allegations and arrests made by the security agencies have not been independently or independently verified.
It should be noted that the SRA (Sindh Desh Revolutionary Army) maintains that it is waging an armed struggle for the freedom of Sindh.
