Four police personnel including an SHO were killed in an attack by armed men on police in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.
A statement issued by the offices of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi confirmed the attacks.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Interior said that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the killing of four police personnel in the incident of terrorists firing on police in Dera Ismail Khan and said that he appreciates the sacrifices of the police for the establishment of peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Mohsin Naqvi also prayed for the speedy recovery of the DSP who was injured in the incident.
A statement issued by the Office of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that Sohail Afridi, taking notice of the incident of firing on police in Dera Ismail Khan, strongly condemned the killing of police personnel including the SHO.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that he shares the grief of the families of the deceased policemen and the provincial government will provide all possible assistance to the affected families.
Earlier, reports were received that four policemen, including an SHO, were killed in an exchange of fire with militants in Wanda Badh under the limits of Panyala police station in Dera Ismail Khan, while DSP Paharpur Circle Adnan was seriously injured.
According to reports, unknown persons opened fire on a mobile van of the Hawayed police station at Gul Bahar Chowk.
