Attack on Construction Company Camp in Balochistan: Guard Killed, 12 Workers Abducted, Machinery Torched

In the ‘Palri’ area of Nana Sahib Ziarat Tehsil, Duki District, Balochistan, armed men launched a major attack on a construction company camp, killing a security guard, injuring two individuals, and abducting 12 workers; additionally, heavy machinery at the camp was set ablaze and completely destroyed.

According to Duki SP Mansoor Ahmed Buzdar, an intense exchange of fire took place between unidentified gunmen and the civilian security guards stationed at the camp. As a result of the firing, a civilian security guard named Mohtaj-ur-Rehman—hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—was killed on the spot, while another guard, Imran Wazir, and a local passerby, Latif Tareen, sustained injuries.

The SP stated that after seizing control of the camp, the gunmen checked the identity cards and documents of the laborers present. They then took 12 individuals—comprising 10 Punjabi and two Pashtun workers—into custody and whisked them away to an unknown location, while all vehicles and construction machinery at the camp were set on fire.

It is worth noting that the process of constructing highways and the alleged plunder of Balochistan’s mineral and natural resources—conducted under the supervision and security of Pakistani rulers, the provincial administration, and military institutions—continues unabated, with the local Baloch population completely deprived of any resulting benefits or profits. Baloch pro-independence armed groups have consistently opposed this exploitative process, frequently targeting the companies, vehicles, owners, and construction projects involved, as well as the state forces and guards assigned to their security. In past incidents, these armed groups have torched heavy machinery, attacked security forces, and detained workers from outside districts—individuals brought to Balochistan by Pakistani entities with promises of perks and security—releasing them only after issuing a stern warning never to return.

No Baloch armed group has yet claimed responsibility for this latest attack and the abduction of the 12 laborers. Meanwhile, the police and the Frontier Corps (FC) have cordoned off the area and announced the launch of a search operation.
