Iran Claims Strait of Hormuz is Fully Under Its Control

A senior commander from Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters has reiterated the claim that the Strait of Hormuz is entirely under the control of the Iranian armed forces. Meanwhile, the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) asserts that a blockade of Iranian ports is ongoing and that 130 commercial vessels have been diverted so far.

Speaking to Iranian state television, Brigadier General Shamkhal Jafari stated that Iran has forced the “enemy” to deploy its naval vessels and equipment far away from Iranian borders.

He also claimed that Iranian forces had seized some of the opposing side’s equipment as “spoils of war,” though he did not provide further details regarding this.

On the other hand, CENTCOM stated in a recent update that US forces have diverted a 130th commercial vessel as part of the maritime blockade against Iran.

According to CENTCOM, the blockade was reinstated on July 14 by order of the US President and targets vessels attempting to enter or depart from Iranian ports.

The US military further stated that it had disabled three vessels that failed to comply with US orders, while 13 commercial ships were destroyed over the past 12 weeks. CENTCOM claims these vessels were either violating the blockade or were part of an alleged covert commercial network linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps.
