Rawalakot: Another Kashmiri youth killed by Pakistani forces’ fire

In a fresh incident of state-sponsored repression—part of an ongoing effort to suppress the rights movement in Pakistan-administered Kashmir—another Kashmiri youth has been killed by direct fire from security forces in Rawalakot.

The deceased youth hailed from Mumtazabad, a tehsil in the Haveli Kahuta district.

According to sources, the body of the youth is being transported to his ancestral home in Mumtazabad, where the atmosphere remains deeply somber and tense.

Furthermore, the entire territory of Kashmir is currently under a severe military siege imposed by Pakistani forces. The forces have tightened the blockade, imposing a total ban on the movement of vehicles carrying food supplies, medicines, and other essential goods. This has triggered a severe food shortage and a humanitarian crisis across various areas.

Despite the blockade, military siege, and gunfire from the forces, the Kashmiri people have remained in a state of continuous protest for the past four months, demanding their fundamental constitutional and economic rights. A central sit-in (dharna) continues with full intensity in the city of Rawalakot, where thousands of people remain steadfast, despite being surrounded and threatened by the forces.
