In response to the intense state repression and blockades currently underway in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, students from Degree College Dadyal held a protest in support of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), registering their strong opposition.
The protesting students demanded that the Azad Kashmir government accept all legitimate demands of the Joint Awami Action Committee without delay, immediately end the occupation of educational institutions by security forces, and cease the unjustified harassment of the public at borders and entry points.
The students also strongly demanded the unconditional release of all arrested political and public leaders, including the committee’s leader, Shaukat Nawaz Mir.
Political and public circles observe that while the entire Mirpur Division currently appears silent in the face of severe pressure and oppression, the decision by these courageous students from Degree College Dadyal to take to the streets and raise their voices could prove to be a significant first step toward awakening the people of the entire Mirpur Division and mobilizing them against state repression.
