The circuit bench of Pakistan\u2019s Sindh High Court, while hearing the petition of former MNA and Pashtun Tahafuz Movement leader Ali Wazir, has issued notices to the Sindh government and the concerned police officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The petition has challenged two FIRs registered by Dadu police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The constitutional bench, comprising Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry and Justice Riazat Ali Sahar, after hearing the constitutional petition number D-607\/2026, directed all parties to submit their explanations by April 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court has issued notices to the Sindh Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police Sindh, DIG Hyderabad Division, Additional Advocate General Sindh, Additional Prosecutor General Sindh, SSP Dadu and SHOs of A and B Section police stations of Dadu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the petitioner\u2019s lawyer, Advocate Imdad Haider Solangi, two separate applications have been filed in the court, in which it has been requested to declare both the FIRs null and void. He said that the timing of the registration of the FIRs itself raises several questions, as these cases were registered within a few hours of his release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be noted that Ali Wazir had been kept in Dadu Jail on judicial remand since March 19, while a legal dispute has arisen over the registration of new FIRs against him immediately after his release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case could give rise to an important legal debate regarding political cases, police powers and civil liberties in the province, on which further progress is expected in the upcoming hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
