Muzaffarabad\/Kashgil News<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ongoing protest of lady health workers in Pakistan-administered Kashmir has intensified due to non-acceptance of demands despite the passage of several months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even on the day of Eid, hundreds of women employees of the health department remained on the streets and raised their voices for their rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 3,500 lady health workers across the region have been protesting for the past two months demanding basic amenities, improved pay and provision of service structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protests started on February 6, while on March 6, protesters staged a sit-in on the main highway leading to the Secretariat in front of the Central Press Club to try to get the attention of the authorities. However, despite several sit-ins and protests, no clear progress has been made by the government, leading to growing anxiety and anger among employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protest took a new turn on Monday, April 6, when hundreds of lady health workers marched from Old Secretariat to Ghari Pin Chowk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants shouted anti-government slogans and reminded Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathwar of his promises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials of the Health Employees Association say that if the demands are not met immediately, the scope of the protest will be widened, which may include a long march towards Islamabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protesters say that they have been waiting for their legitimate rights for many years, but despite assurances every time, no practical steps have been taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, there is no official reaction from the government representatives yet, which makes the situation more complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Civil society and local circles have demanded the government to take immediate and serious notice of the problems of lady health workers, so that even on occasions like Eid, women workers do not have to protest on the streets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
