Come dip your brush in it and paint this body made of dust on a canvas. Gone are the days when drops of ink fell from the tip of the pen. Now it drips with red blood. Come write some dark words with this blood. In a while, the blood will clot. Then all these words scattered on the paper will become a dark story like our hearts.

This half-naked, weak body is burning on the hot sand of Dasht-e-Layli, yearning for the empty bazaar of Raqqa. It has fallen on the border of demand, scattered on the remote hills of Waziristan. No, not there, it is lying at the foot of the marble stairs. These stairs lead to a building. This is not a cemetery, this is a university. One of the top universities in the country. This is the home of the most educated and less than one percent of the people in this country. This is the future of this country.

They are the strings of its hope. The fulfillment of its dreams. These people are the sky of this earth. And all of them break down to watch the spectacle together.

There is no regret on any face. There are no tears in any eye. No hand resists the path of oppression. The few hands that have risen beyond violence are being filmed on mobile phones. This is a man lying face down. His clothes have been torn from the lower part of his body. His body is bleeding. One bullet has probably been fired into the head, the other into the chest. A few breaths are still going. Then a young man jumps out of the crowd. He picks up a brick and hits the head of the body that is becoming a corpse. The brick bounces off. The head is not shattered. The spirit of others is stirred by faith. One after the other, young men attack with stones, bricks and sticks. Someone is hitting me on the head, someone is hitting me on the chest. My head has opened. What was inside is now scattered on the floor. There are slogans of Allahu Akbar everywhere. All these are students who are only looking for blood at this time. I am sitting in my room watching this video of Abdul Wali Khan University and I am ashamed of being a human being. What else should I do?

I don’t know Mashal Khan. I open his Facebook page. I see pictures full of the life of a beautiful young man. I read his Facebook posts lying in beautiful words. Sometimes I don’t find a single head, sometimes there is nothing even in the lowest level of nonsense. I also see a poem. It is not written as an example. But think about this choice, why did Mashal see me from across the wall.

I have been missing
For several weeks
Get the police to write a report
Since then I have been going to the police station every day
I ask the constable
Did you find out anything about me?
The sympathetic police officer shakes his head in despair, saying in a choked voice, “We haven’t found any trace of you yet.” Then he consoles, “Someday you will be found unconscious on the side of a road, or injured in a hospital, or a body in a river.” Tears well up in my eyes. I go to the market to buy flowers from a florist to welcome me. I buy bandages for my wounds from the chemist, some cotton wool and painkillers. For my last rites, I get a shroud from the mosque shop, and many candles to commemorate my memory. Some people say that candles are not needed when someone dies. But they don’t tell me where to get light if the apple of one’s eye disappears. If the lamp in the house goes out, then what are you lighting?” After this poem is written:

I have been picking thorns for a long time and I am a flower. The flower that grows in thought and mind. Now those who were not thorns in my eyes have picked it and the whole lawn is gray. Where will the flower go now?

My friend, you are doing a great job. There is one interpretation of murder. Those who insist on calling him Dahar Yeh Ya La instead of Muslim, we have to ask them which Islam issues a penalty on atheism or atheism on behalf of the crowd. Which country’s law punishes him in this regard. Those who call him a perpetrator of insult, among them are those who quote Abdul Hameed Aadam’s poem from his wall and call him an example of insult. If this is also to be classified as insult, then no one will be left alive in the city. If your Majesty accepts your words, then where is the police? Where is the FIR paper?

Where has the court gone, where has the opportunity to clear the accused gone, where has the evidence been recorded, what happened to the judge who has the authority to pronounce the verdict? These murderers have all the authority. The justification for giving is derived from some book of ethics, it is stamped with some provision of law, what interpretation of religion has made it possible to defend it. Those who made the accusation, they set up the court, they sentenced them and they are the ones who are burned. Wow.

Look at Mashal Khan’s picture. He used to tease the music with his tongue against the bullet. Who is such a fool? Souza Pali. I am not reporting. They do not investigate me. In some time, the channels will take one by one. The whole life of the example will be in front of you right now. Some accusations will be made, some clarifications will be given. Perhaps the truth will also come out. I am not interested in it. I only have some broken questions that I am wandering around with. Someone please answer them.

Whatever the accusation, does anyone except the court have the right to punish? If not, why is this barbarity the main story? Articles 295 to 298 of the Constitution have come into existence in the third decade. Pakistan is seventy years old. Why is it that in the forty years of the provisions, these crimes are rarely found and in the thirty years of the Manu Selab dam has been breached. Whose other crimes have been covered up under this guise? Out of the country’s 200 million population, barely 5% reach universities. This is our most educated segment. If even this 5% is violent and lawless, what can happen to the remaining 95%? In such a situation, how will the lamp of hope burn and who will light it? If this is the face of our religion that the world has to see, who will convince the world that this religion is a religion of peace? You must not have forgotten the recent video of a fiery orator in which he clearly said that Islam is not a religion of peace. And the applause of his audience went to the sky.

Our friends, who consider Muslims dying in cow slaughter in India as victims of religious extremism and hatred, will even consider the death of youths due to violence within their own borders as an example of extremism or will they call it a victory of faith? Let’s leave aside the religious debate, what can I say as a Pakistani when one of my most educated minds kills his own colleague on his steps with bullets, sticks and stones and the rest of his educated colleagues make videos of it or watch the spectacle. How can I be proud of being a citizen of this country? Where is my state? Where is my National Action Plan? Where are my law enforcers? Where is my humanity? Where is my belief in peace? Where are my intellectuals? Where are my leaders? Why is no one speaking in this deathly silence? Where has this gone? Who should believe me? Is there any alternative to speech?

Then someone whispers in my ear. He says, Hasher, don’t be so innocent. You know, Mashal Khan has all these answers. Her black blood makes words. Tells a dark story. But you want to remain deaf and blind. You don’t want to hear this story, you don’t want to read that you are also a character in it. I put my finger to my lips and say softly. For example, you are dead. Now be quiet.

April 13, 2017 Martyrdom Day of Mashal Khan

٭٭٭

I have only one color left, red.
