Around 120 work-charge sanitary workers of the Municipal Corporation in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, are facing severe financial difficulties. According to the affected employees, they are forced to serve for just Rs 12,000 per month, while some say that they have not even been paid their salaries for the last two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sanitary workers maintain that in this era of inflation, it is not possible to survive on such a meager wage, and the delay in salaries has further increased their problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, Secretary Local Government Irshad Qureshi expressed ignorance about the situation and said that he was not aware of any sanitary worker working for Rs 12,000 per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be noted that according to a notification issued by the government in January 2025, the minimum salary of employees appointed on a contingent basis was increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 37,000, however, its implementation is still questionable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
