With a historic victory in the West Bengal elections in India, the ruling party at the center, Bharatiya Janata Party, has won power in 20 of the country’s 28 states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is also being called the result of Prime Minister Modi’s political strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing workers after his party’s stunning victory in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that these results reflect the people’s faith in democracy, performance-based politics and stability, and show that India is united even during crises, such as the US and Israel’s war against Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the BJP headquarters, he added that these results show the growing popularity of the BJP in the state (West Bengal) where it had faced difficulties in the past. \u201cA new chapter has been added to the destiny of Bengal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added, \u201cThe BJP\u2019s record victory in West Bengal would not have been possible without the hard work and struggle of generations of workers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BJP has achieved a stunning victory in a state election that has long been held by its main political rival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BJP won 207 of the 294 assembly seats, according to the Election Commission of India website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victory could give Modi a strong position ahead of the 2029 general elections, especially as he faces economic and foreign policy challenges, including high unemployment and a pending trade deal with the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to experts, Narendra Modi\u2019s personality, organized party structure, resource superiority and a strong Hindu narrative along with economic growth are key factors in the BJP\u2019s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BJP has never ruled West Bengal before and has been trying for years to oust the All India Trinamool Congress government, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She is a prominent critic of Modi and has ruled the politically sensitive state since 2011.
