About 100 employees of the SERA State Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority in Pakistan-administered Kashmir have been facing severe difficulties due to non-payment of salaries for the past five months. The department was established after the devastating 2005 earthquake. The affected employees have demanded immediate notice from the government and the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the employees, due to the non-payment of salaries for five consecutive months, their household expenses, children’s education, rent and utility bills are being severely affected. The employees say that in the current era of inflation, it has become impossible to run the household system without salary, while many employees are forced to take loans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The affected employees have taken the stand that they have been serving in the department for the past several years, however, there is no serious progress from the authorities on the issue of non-payment of salaries. They say that the relevant institutions and higher authorities have been informed about the situation several times, but the problem has not been resolved yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The employees have expressed their fear that if their salaries are not released soon, it will become more difficult for them to lead a normal life. They have demanded that the Azad Kashmir government immediately release funds and pay the outstanding salaries so that the difficulties faced by the employees and their families can be eliminated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
