The Revolutionary Guards\u2019 warning came at a time when the US Central Command announced that it had carried out defensive strikes in southern Iran last night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Revolutionary Guards\u2019 statement, without directly mentioning the attacks, said that the US military \u201ccontinued its interventionist and aggressive behavior in the region and entered Iranian airspace in the Persian Gulf,\u201d after which the Revolutionary Guards\u2019 defense units \u201cidentified an MQ-9 drone after careful intelligence monitoring and shot it down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Revolutionary Guards added that it also fired on an RQ4 drone and an F-35 fighter jet, \u201cas a result of which they were forced to retreat and leave the territorial waters.\u201d The Guards did not specify the time or location of the attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The US military had earlier announced that it had carried out new strikes in southern Iran last night, targeting Iranian missile sites and boats that were \u201cattempting to lay mines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from US Central Command, the strikes were carried out in self-defense and were intended to \u201cprotect US forces from threats posed by Iranian forces.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iranian media reported last night that explosions were heard near Bandar Abbas and the city\u2019s airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oil prices, which had fallen significantly after hopes of successful talks between Iran and the US, have now started to rise again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
