The government of Pakistan-administered Kashmir has issued a notification to include the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee (JK-JAAC) in the list of banned organizations under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the notification issued by the Azad Kashmir Home Department, the government has reasonable grounds to believe that the Joint Public Action Committee, also known as the Joint Public Action Committee (JAAC) and the Public Action Committee (AAC), is involved in activities detrimental to the peace, order and security of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The notification alleges that the said organization has been involved in activities such as spreading fear and panic among the public, promoting hatred, creating chaos in the state and creating a feeling of insecurity among the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the notification, the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 12 of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Terrorism Act, 2014, has approved the declaration of the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee as a Proscribed Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following this approval, the name of the organization has been included in the First Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Copies of this notification issued by the Home Department have also been sent to the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, President of Azad Kashmir, Ministry of Interior of Pakistan, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and other relevant institutions to ensure implementation of the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Different reactions are being expressed in political and public circles on this decision, while no official reaction has been received from the Public Action Committee on this notification yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
