Reports of arrests, raids and public reaction are being received from different areas during the protest movement of the Joint Public Action Committee in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Rawalakot, the body of Shahzeb Habib, who was killed in a firing incident while returning from Khaigalla yesterday, was placed in front of the CMH gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reports of police shelling by protesters during the protest have also come to light. Shahzeb Habib\u2019s funeral prayers were to be offered in Rawalakot, Shahzeb\u2019s funeral prayers will be offered at Sabir Shaheed Stadium at 6 pm. While the Joint Public Action Committee has appealed to workers from surrounding areas to participate in large numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, reports are also being received from different cities and rural areas that law enforcement officials and agencies are allegedly carrying out operations in civilian clothes and non-official vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to local sources, efforts are underway to detain activists and active members of the Action Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police arrested and took away Awami Action Committee leaders Atif Hussain and Nasir Satti from the Kachhari Chowk protest camp in Palandri, but local citizens stopped the vehicle and rescued the two leaders from police custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Supporters of the Awami Action Committee maintain that the aim of the arrests and crackdown is to prevent the public from participating in the protest activities, while appeals are also being made to the activists in different areas to remain united and continue the protest movement.
