US President Donald Trump has said that the US will \u2018possibly run the Strait of Hormuz\u2019 and claimed that Iran has violated a deal it made with the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an interview with Fox News, Trump said that \u2018we are taking control of the Strait of Hormuz. They have nothing, they have nothing left.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He referred to the overnight attacks by US Central Command on military targets in Iran and said that \u2018the United States inflicted serious damage on Iran last night.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump added that \u2018we have them under control. They are retreating. Most of their equipment is gone. Their air defense system is also gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier on Monday, the Iranian embassy in the UK said that Iran had established a temporary safe sea corridor in the Strait of Hormuz that was \u201cfree from technical and military obstacles.\u201d However, according to the embassy, \u200b\u200bthe waterway has turned into an \u201cextremely dangerous area\u201d due to US military operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
US President Donald Trump has also announced a naval blockade of Iranian ports once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his post on Truth Social, the US president wrote: \u201cThe Strait of Hormuz is open and will remain open with or without Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are reinstating the blockade on Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the aim of the blockade was to prevent Iranian ships and their customers from entering and leaving, but \u201call other countries will be able to use the Strait of Hormuz fairly and freely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The US president claimed that \u201cfrom today on, the United States will be known as the \u2018Guardian of the Strait of Hormuz.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Trump also said that the US would be paid a \u201c20 percent\u201d on all cargo to cover all costs of providing \u201csecurity and safety in a very volatile area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
