A large population of the Pakistan-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir is settled in various democratic countries of the world. Kashmiris living in the UK, Europe, America, Canada, Australia and other countries are not just immigrants but also citizens, voters and taxpayers of these countries. They are part of the same democratic systems where public opinion, parliamentary oversight and human rights issues influence foreign policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent world history shows that when public pressure on an issue becomes systematic, continuous and effective at the global level, governments may be forced to review their policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Israeli actions in the case of Palestine, citizens, human rights organizations, students, trade unions and political activists in many countries of the world demanded that their governments review relations with Israel, defense cooperation and certain agreements. Discussions started at the diplomatic, political and trade levels in many countries and some governments took various steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, the example of Iran is also in front, where international sanctions have affected the Iranian economy, trade, investment and global financial relations at different times. These sanctions have proven that when world powers decide to put collective pressure on the actions of a state, its effects can reach a country\u2019s economy and international relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These examples illustrate the fact that in today\u2019s era, no country can remain completely isolated from the global system. Trade, investment, financial cooperation and diplomatic relations between states can be affected by public opinion and human rights issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, if the legitimate political, economic and human rights issues of the people of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir are not resolved, and attempts to suppress public demands through force continue, then overseas Kashmiris can raise their voice further in their countries by exercising their democratic rights. Then this voice will not be limited to protests only, but can reach parliaments, political parties, international media, human rights institutions and civil society more effectively. Because these people are citizens of the same countries that have major economic, trade, defense and diplomatic relations with Pakistan.
Of course, continuous and systematic global pressure can create diplomatic, political and economic difficulties for any country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, the better path for Pakistan is not confrontation but a political solution to the problems. The demands of the people of the Pakistan-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir should be listened to seriously and the Charter of Demands of the Joint Public Action Committee should be resolved through practical measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The power of overseas Kashmiris is their vote, their citizenship and their democratic voice. If public issues are resolved through justice and negotiations in their region, then the need to raise their voice before the world decreases, but if the voice is continuously ignored, that voice will reach the international forums with more power, which can have an impact on Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and economic relations, which can affect more than 250 million people of Pakistan. Therefore, Pakistan It is in the national and domestic interest that the voice of the people in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir be heard and the Charter of Demands of the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee, the spokesperson of the people, be put into practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
