On the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti on August 26, security has been put on high alert across Balochistan. Several routes have been closed by increasing the number of forces in Quetta and other cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The district administration of the provincial capital Quetta has blocked all routes leading to the red zone by parking trucks in Benazir Flyover, Chaman Phatak and adjacent areas, while a heavy contingent of forces has also been deployed around the red zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Wednesday night, armed men entered Kharan city and started snap checking at various places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Snap checking was carried out by armed men at various places in the city center, including Badu Pul, Bab-e-Kharan, CPEC Road, Model School, Sarawan Road, and checkpoints were set up at several places and vehicles were searched. Meanwhile, intermittent firing and explosions were heard from different parts of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sources say that the armed men also targeted police personnel posted near the residence of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the attack, the police personnel abandoned their vehicles and left the scene, after which the attackers set the police vehicles on fire. The armed men set fire to government property and arrested three police personnel and took them with them, while destroying checkpoints and surveillance towers and taking control of important highways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, no one has claimed responsibility for the incidents in Kharan so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, the authorities have described the next 24 hours in Balochistan as very sensitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to sources, security arrangements are being tightened further in Balochistan, while information is also circulating about the shutdown of mobile internet and data services on August 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
August 26 is a significant day in Balochistan and this situation in Kharan has come to light at a time when it is 20 years since the assassination of Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ongoing freedom movement in Balochistan has been gradually intensifying since the assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti. In the past, incidents of attacks by armed organizations have been reported in different parts of Balochistan on this date, due to which the authorities already consider this period sensitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It may be recalled that two years ago, on the night of August 25 and 26, the Baloch Liberation Army launched a series of attacks across Balochistan under \u201cOperation Hero-I\u201d, in which hundreds of fighters from units like the BLA\u2019s fidayeen wing Majeed Brigade, special forces STOS and Fateh Squad participated and challenged the government writ across Balochistan for twenty hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
