Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has rejected the proposal to create more provinces in Sindh, saying that \u2018Sindh is one and will always remain one.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking in the provincial assembly on Monday, Murad Ali Shah said that \u2018Lahore traders will not sit and decide that Sindh should be divided. This decision has been made many times by the members of the Sindh Assembly that there will be no parts of Sindh, Sindh is one and will always remain one.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement of the Sindh Chief Minister has come at a time when there is a debate on the establishment of new provinces and administrative units in Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Murad Ali Shah further said that \u2018we will decide, neither any court will decide nor will any person on the streets decide\u2019 on the creation of new provinces or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018The decision will be made in this house, the debate will be made in this house. The decision will be taken by this House and, God willing, we will make such a decision that we will silence all the other voices that are being raised.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sindh Assembly is currently debating new provinces, which will continue for the next few days, after which a resolution will be presented by the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be noted that the Sindh Assembly has passed five resolutions against the division of the province since the establishment of Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first resolution was presented on February 10, 1948, when the issue of separating Karachi from Sindh and handing it over to the federation came up. This resolution was submitted by Qazi Akbar and presented in the House by Muhammad Azam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This resolution was passed by a majority vote, but later Karachi was separated from Sindh and declared a federal territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second resolution was presented on March 6, 1954 by the Leader of the Opposition and nationalist leader GM Syed. The resolution demanded that the Government of Pakistan include Karachi city and the federal territory attached to it back in Sindh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resolution also took the position that the reasons for separating Karachi from Sindh were insufficient and that the Sindh government was not compensated for the loss of capital and revenue as a result of this decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The third resolution was passed on September 25, 2014, against the possible separation of Karachi. This resolution was presented by the then Leader of the Opposition Muhammad Shehryar Khan Mehar and was passed by the House with a majority vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fourth resolution was passed on September 16, 2019, which was signed by assembly members belonging to different political parties, through this resolution any proposal to separate Karachi from Sindh was rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fifth resolution was passed by the Sindh Assembly on February 21, 2026. The resolution, presented by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, was passed unanimously. The resolution declared Karachi as a historical, constitutional and administrative part of Sindh and stated that no unilateral change in its status would be accepted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
