A major and severe attack was carried out by armed men on the Joint Police and Customs Office and Frontier Constabulary (FC) camp adjacent to the Gharki Police Station near Ziarat Cross on the Quetta-Zhob Highway in Balochistan late last night, as a result of which at least 6 security personnel including an officer were killed and several others were injured or missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to initial confirmed reports, 6 personnel including Captain Ziaullah of 134 Wing were killed in the detailed attack by armed men. The other killed personnel include Havaldar Samiullah, Lance Naik Nowroz, Lance Naik Shakeel and Sepoy Sajawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 7 personnel have also been injured in the attack, including Havaldar Jahangir, Lance Naik Sardar, Lance Naik Shabbir and Sepoy Anwar of FCIU, who have been shifted for immediate medical assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to sources, the armed attackers captured the joint check post during the attack and took possession of the weapons and government equipment there and later set the building on fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the video footage that came to light immediately after the incident, it can be seen that there is severe destruction in the customs office located near the Gharki police station at Ziarat Cross and the surrounding area. After the attack, dozens of parked vehicles are burning and the entire area is engulfed in heavy fire and smoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A heavy contingent of security forces has cordoned off the area and closed the highway for transportation and a large-scale search operation has been launched in search of the attackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
