British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has announced a number of measures, including a ban on imports of goods from Israeli settlements in the illegally occupied West Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking in the British parliament on Tuesday, Miliband said he did not think \u201cthe British public would want our shops to support the occupation by allowing products from settlements.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that a \u201ccomprehensive sanctions regime\u201d would be established, including \u201cappropriate religious exemptions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing those facilitating illegal settlements, Miliband said: \u201cYou will face the full force of British sanctions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He told MPs that Britain agrees that ethnic cleansing is taking place in parts of the West Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miliband said the occupation of the West Bank is \u201cillegal\u201d in the British government\u2019s view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also announced a ban on advertising for illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Foreign Secretary said that the sanctions regime would target \u201cillegal settlements and their expansion, not Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miliband added that the UK was also imposing sanctions on \u201cextremist settlers\u201d who supported or incited acts of violence against Palestinian communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
