Following the announcement by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to march towards the federal capital on September 27, Islamabad police and the district administration have tightened security measures and begun placing a large number of containers on key entry routes into the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Islamabad police officials, the containers have been positioned as a security precaution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A police official stated that the administration currently has approximately 150 containers available; these will be placed on major thoroughfares as the situation demands, in order to prevent protesters from entering Islamabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The official added that containers have been positioned along the sides of key roads, including 26 Number Chungi, Rawat, and Margalla Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Section 144 is already in effect in the federal capital, and the Punjab government has also imposed Section 144 across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, an official from the Rawalpindi district administration stated that several PTI leaders and workers from the Rawalpindi division have been detained over concerns regarding a potential breach of the peace. According to the official, some workers were initially moved to Adiala Jail but were subsequently transferred to Attock Jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the Rawalpindi district administration official did not specify the number of detained workers, PTI has claimed on the social media platform X that 13 of its workers from the Rawalpindi district have been taken into custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the actions taken by the administration and police, numerous PTI workers have gone into hiding, and raids are being conducted in various areas to apprehend them. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a long march to Islamabad on September 20, demanding a reduction in the levy imposed on petroleum products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several rounds of negotiations have taken place between the government delegation and the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami regarding the petroleum levy issue; however, no progress has been made so far.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
