Shaukat Nawaz Mir, a central leader of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC), was taken into custody publicly in broad daylight by Pakistani security forces approximately three months ago (June 5, 2026)\u2014an event documented by video evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After holding him in illegal custody and subjecting him to enforced disappearance for three months, the Muzaffarabad police have now\u2014using the name of his sister (Ms. Yasmeen Mir)\u2014made a puerile attempt to create the impression that Shaukat Nawaz Mir is not in the custody of the forces but has instead gone missing of his own accord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The same stale charade used in Balochistan\u2014involving the concealment of enforced disappearances, the issuance of fake public notices, and the coercion of families into making specific statements\u2014is now being attempted as a “flop formula” in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The public is fully aware of the reality of his detention and sees through these theatrical tactics employed by the forces and intelligence agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
