Tensions and hostilities between Yemeni government forces and Iran-backed Houthi rebels have escalated sharply following bloody airstrikes and intense clashes in Yemen’s strategically sensitive Taiz province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Houthi sources claim that approximately 30 of the group’s fighters and eight civilians were killed in airstrikes within the Taiz area. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree accused Saudi Arabia of targeting a market and shops at the “Mawiyah Intersection” on the outskirts of Taiz, stating that over 50 people\u2014including five children\u2014were affected by the attack. He vowed a strong response to the strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the internationally recognized Yemeni government and the Saudi-led coalition rejected the Houthi claims, asserting that their forces had targeted a Houthi military camp and military vehicles at the Mawiyah Intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Colonel Majid Abdullah Al-Nazili, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, stated that over the past 72 hours, forces conducted 756 effective operations, targeting 2,316 Houthi fighters, including four Iranian nationals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taiz is a geographically vital and sensitive province situated between government-controlled areas in the north and Houthi-dominated regions in the south. In recent times\u2014particularly since the Houthis seized the key port city of Al-Mukha\u2014clashes between the two sides have intensified significantly.
