It is worth noting that exactly one year ago, on October 4, 2025, the Government of Pakistan and the regional administration had signed a 38-point agreement with the ‘Joint Public Action Committee’ (JAAC), guaranteeing fundamental human rights, addressing economic demands, and resolving other critical issues for the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, despite the passage of a year, both governments have completely reneged on all their commitments and the clauses of the agreement. According to leaders of the Action Committee, the region has witnessed an alarming rise in state violence, fatalities, the violation of public rights, and exploitation over the past four months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to this breach of trust and the persistent injustices committed by the ruling elite, the Joint Public Action Committee announced a state-wide ‘Black Day’ for October 4. Heeding the JAAC’s call, the people of Kashmir are participating in large numbers in protests to express their intense anger and deep resentment. Protesters state that the public struggle and protest movement will continue\u2014despite all obstacles\u2014until the 38-point agreement is implemented in letter and spirit and the violence by security forces ceases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A central sit-in has been ongoing in Rawalakot for the past four months; today, people in various areas will hold gatherings to register their protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
